Dr. Jacline Nyman, Founder & President
Professional Background
Dr. Jacline Nyman is a champion of the non-profit sector, bringing 30+ years of passionate leadership, experience and team building to the communities, causes and clients she serves. She is founder of Advancement Resources Counsel (ARC) Inc. and an Associate Professor of Marketing with the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa.
Jacline engages frequently in public speaking and volunteers on a number of boards, including as Chair of the Senators Hockey Club Foundation. She provides professional counsel, coaching and mentorship to those developing their strategy, leadership and governance skills. Fluently bilingual (English/French), Jacline leads executive-level training and facilitation sessions building collaborative and integrated team dynamics and strategic plans. She provides counsel on multi-million dollar comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
In the past, Jacline served as Vice-President, External Relations with the University of Ottawa, President & CEO of United Way Centraide Canada and other large organizations, working extensively with private and public sector leaders across the country and around the globe. She has a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Business Administration, and the ICD.D corporate governance designation.
Jacline engages frequently in public speaking and advocacy on a wide range of topics, including the charitable sector, organizational leadership, philanthropy and fundraising, transformational change and modernization. She appeared before the Senate of Canada’s special committee on the charitable sector; spoke on the topic of “The Future of Generosity, Philanthropy and Artificial Intelligence”; on “The Future of Corporate Philanthropy and New Technologies” at the Economic Club of Canada; and at the Canada 2020 speakers series about “5 Big Ideas for the Future of Canada.”
Internationally, Dr. Nyman has worked with corporate and non-profit leaders. She participated as a speaker on panels about corporate and social development partnerships and philanthropy in Washington DC; Miami; Las Vegas; Laguna Beach, CA; Mexico City; Seoul, South Korea; Amsterdam; London, UK; and Frankfurt, Germany.
From 2018-2023, Jacline was Vice-President, External Relations with the University of Ottawa, responsible for the offices of Alumni Relations, Communications & Government Relations, Development, and Marketing & Brand Strategy, leading a $500 Million fundraising campaign.
Prior to joining uOttawa, Jacline was the President & CEO of United Way Centraide Canada (national office); worked with the Smith School of Business (Queen’s University, Kingston) as Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations; as Vice-President of Fundraising & Donor Relations at the York University Foundation (Toronto); Executive Director of Development and External Relations at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business (Calgary); and as Director of Advancement Services and Liaison Manager for the University of Ottawa.
